One question many of us have is: Is yogurtgoodfordiarrhea?
Yogurt with probiotics is good for prevention and treatment of diarrhea associated with antibiotic use, probiotics are live microorganisms intended to confer health benefits when consumed, and one of the advantages of the use of probiotics is to avoid diarrhea, which is an adverse effect of antibiotics.
Researchers in California have identified in randomized clinical trials, published in JAMA, use of probiotics versus placebo among nearly 12,000 men and women who were taking antibiotics. The probiotics group taking more antibiotics was 42% less likely to develop diarrhea than the group who took placebo.
About one in three people who take antibiotics develop diarrhea. When the doctor writes a prescription containing antibiotics and the person begins taking the drug, this kills the addition to the bacteria microorganisms that are causing “good” infection, causing a disturbance to the balance of the normal in the gut, and usually the result is many times the appearance of loose stool, aqueous, the known antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
Probiotics generally can be helpful in helping the population of good bacteria (lactobacilli) to recover faster and again renew the intestinal order.
But yogurt with probiotics are not the general solution, the researchers say yogurt would be more indicated in cases of antibiotic therapy for more than 10 days, for example, or the antibiotic change interval, if applicable, also for people who have diarrhea history in previous treatment with antibiotics, and especially in the case of those who had an infection of C. difficile.
Probiotics that are most effective in the prevention and treatment of antibiotic associated diarrhea? And what antibiotics are more diarrhea-causing? Questions still to be investigated. But to sum up, is yogurt good for diarrhea? Yogurt with probiotics can be useful, but bacterial resistance induced by overuse of antibiotics should also be evaluated at the time of indicating these medications.

It has been a short time that Greek yogurt invaded the shelves of supermarkets, right? And then what happened is that we were spoiled because it is very good and creamier, but it also more calories (a pity) and also much more expensive than the common version.
The good thing is we can make greek yogurt at home, in a very natural way and without preservatives and additives, as we make our own greek yogurt.
How to make greek yogurt?
Greek Yogurt Recipe Ingredients:
2 liters of plain yogurt (I used homemade)
14 drops of sweetener (I used the sucralose)
1/2 teaspoon (coffee) vanilla extract
Sieve or colander
(yields almost 4 cups)
How to make greek yogurt?
Place a cloth over the colander (or screen) and put on top of a container (see photo 03). Pour the yogurt on the cloth, cover with a lid or a plate and refrigerate for about 8 hours (I put the night and the morning is ready). If you use a more thin cloth, it takes less time. The whey will fall on the lower container and the thicker yogurt will stay on the cloth.
After that time, remove the cloth yogurt with a spoon. Place in a bowl, add the vanilla and the sweetener and mix well. If the yogurt was very thick and creamy you like more, just addest a serum Wee and mix well.
Ready, Greek yogurt is at the point of eating. Store in a closed container in the refrigerator.
Note: Each liter of yogurt yields about 2 cups (of tea) Greek yogurt.
Tips on how to make greek yogurt:
Book a cloth just to do this, is more hygienic.
To wash the cloth use coconut soap or mild soap.
Do not throw the serum yogurt (photo 07) out, it’s great and good nutritional use to put in the beans, or in meat when cooking and also for baking and desserts.
One of the questions everybody make is: Is yogurt good for weight loss? The answer is a loud Yes! Also, the yogurt is good for the muscles and bones, protects the stomach and stimulates the bowel function.
The drying power of the fats comes from calcium, which, in the yogurt has the advantage of being bioavailable – Version easily absorbed by the body. And this has much to do with weight loss. “The more calcium, the lower the risk of hormone calcitriol stimulate the entry of the mineral in adipocytes, which prevents fat burning within these cells,” explains Lina Yonekura, researcher of Food Sciences Division of the University of Nottingham in England.
So, is yogurt good for weight loss? Another good news for waist measurements is that you do not need to opt for the full yogurt. The version with less fat and calories (on average 76, almost half of which offers full) has more calcium (about 300 milligrams of a bowl 170 grams). It also has the most protein. So if you want to lose weight without losing muscle, has no doubt: stay with low-fat yogurt.
You avoid milk protein because grieves in the stomach? Do not worry: In the yogurt, this nutrient is partially digested. This is thanks to the strains of friendly bacteria Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus which ferment drink, transforming it into the tart taste of food and creamy texture. Moreover, can only be called yogurt or fermented milk products that bring these two species in the composition. Then I look on the label: there are pots that seem yogurt, but milk drinks. They do not offer the same benefits!
Another important detail: despite being considered a product rich in protein, yogurt has five times more
carbohydrate. Therefore, if you are following a diet that calls for restraint in this nutrient, do not overdo the portion, and avoid the options with sugar, coloring and flavoring. The ideal day to day is to opt for skimmed yogurt and add fresh fruit or cereal and if you find it necessary to intensify the sweet taste, use sweetener or a little honey or jelly.
What about probiotics? Is yogurt good for weight loss?
They are even more effective in weight loss. According to experts, yogurt or probiotic fermented milk improves the health of the intestine and thereby help to dry the measures in two ways: reducing hunger (healthy gut releases more neurotransmitter regulators of satiety) and increasing the absorption of vitamins and minerals (it prevents the body feel the lack of these nutrients and stimulate binge).
What is the difference from the traditional yogurt?
The families of friendly bacteria. Generally, probiotics are fermented by Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium. The amount of strains is also infinitely greater – at least 108 CFU (Colony Forming Units), approximately 100 million probiotic bacteria in one little pot. Indeed, this is the recommended daily allowance in the Food Guide. So if you have the habit of eating or eat yogurt every day, give preference for a little pot of probiotic.
Consumed regularly, yogurt and fermented milk probiotics are also able to reduce bad cholesterol while increasing the body’s defenses. “They can also help reduce the risk of infection in the lining of the stomach and colon cancer,” said Roseli Rossi, nutritionist.
The best for your diet! Is yogurt good for weight loss?
You can get lost with the offering of yogurt and fermented milk available on supermarket shelves. But you already know: probiotics and natural nonfat are the options that best match a diet to maintain health and the right weight. A few options made with fruits also fit this pattern (see the selection made by the experts interviewed in this report). But if you love something new and like to try different textures and flavors, before placing the product in the cart, investigate the label. “Check the amount of sugar, fat, carbohydrate and sodium, as well as coloring and flavoring. The fewer the better,” advises nutritionist Dagmarcia Tumeo.
If you have any restriction on the lactose (milk sugar), should take care to choose a yogurt without the substance. Another possibility is to choose the soy yogurt, protein and which also have important substances to health. “Studies have shown that soy phyto-hormones help reduce the symptoms of PMS and menopause, and help prevent heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis and diabetes,” says Thiago Volpi, general practitioner specializing in sports nutrology and obesity.
But beware: they tend to be slightly more caloric. You are not satisfied with little? Then, write down one last suggestion of specialists who prefer the more consistent yogurts, to be consumed with a spoon. In this way, they give a greater sense of satiety.

It is rich in nutrients and it is low in fat, and even very healthy if consumed pure or with fruit. But the problem occurs when it is added jellies, jelly beans, sprinkles and other goodies that add a lot of calories and sugar to the frozen yogurt. It is best to consume the frozen yogurt, for example as a afternoon snack instead of dessert, as it can add more calories at lunch. In addition, the frozen yogurt is rich in calcium, which hinders the absorption of iron in the meal ingested.

Yogurt is a widely consumed by youth and adults, either pure or with sugar, honey or fruit. Despite this, many people do not know what is yogurt and how this product is made and imagine that there is only milk, sugar and some fruits. What many do not know is that in addition to these products, there are bacteria!
The bacteria are very simple organisms that are found in virtually all parts of the planet. Known primarily for causing diseases such as pneumonia, tetanus and tuberculosis, these living beings not only cause damage to man.
The bacteria are also important in the manufacture of foods such as yogurt, cheese, curds and vinegar; in the production of insulin, which is used in the treatment of diabetes and even in aesthetical treatments, such as Botox. Also, they have ecological importance, because they act in nitrogen fixation and decomposition of dead organisms.
With respect to yogurt, they are used to transform the sugar found in milk (lactose) into lactic acid, which is responsible for coagulating milk. This process is known as fermentation.
Basically, two bacteria are used in the process of manufacturing yogurt, Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus. The first is related more to the creaminess and the smell of yogurt, while the Streptococcus thermophilus is more related to fermentation.
The yogurt, and tasty, it has several other qualities. The lactobacilli used in their production are important, for example against bowel diseases. In addition, some studies show that yogurt reduces bad breath and is a good source of calcium, thereby aiding in the fight against osteoporosis and hypertension (high blood pressure). Not to mention that yogurt is a great source of vitamins.

This delight frozen yogurt turned a strong trend in several countries. The frozen yogurt (yogurt ice cream +) gained followers, especially those interested in following in a diet but does not relieve a sweet taste on the menu.
Unlike the “fat cousin,” the frozen yogurt is not made with whole milk, but with low-fat yogurt – in some stores, as Yogoberry, which has spread stores in cities across the country. There are versions with 0g fat (against 5g to almost the same quantity of milk-based ice cream). In relation to calories in frozen yogurt, compared to a traditional ice cream flavor, it also wins the race: it has half the calories.
However, this value applies to the version of pure frozen yogurt (which already tastes good), that is, without the toppings. Stores that offer the delicacy usually put available toppings and syrups for the most varied tastes. Hence also it is easier to fall into temptation and go off the diet. It is common to bet on: cookie crushed stuffed, chocolate confectionery, marshmallow and many other goodies that fatten the calories in frozen yogurt.
The dietitian Roberta Stella, responsible for Weight Loss Program – Diet and Health – alert for care in the choice of toppings. “Think you already chose the yogurt because it is a healthier option, then follow the same line and opt for lighter toppings. Choose fruits and leaving the sweet and sugary toppings aside is the best alternative,” she explains. “So, you avoid the intake of more calories, fat and sugar. No food is fully released or prohibited. You must have control of the amount that will be consumed to not harm the diet.”
Who cares about keeping fit, also finds attractive and light topping options for frozen yogurt. Various fruits and granola fall into this list, and light chocolate (in moderation!).
If you surrender to fatter calories in frozen yogurt versions, it is good to know the daily intake limit. Roberta says, “it can be consumed daily but the limit is a small sized 120g, always watching those recommendations on the toppings and syrups..” Moreover, fall into that temptation of frozen yogurt: refreshing, sweet, thin and delicious!
